Gwen and Joel’s wedding took place on a peaceful afternoon in 2016. Opting for an intimate ceremony they decided to exchange vows at the groom’s family home in Waterloo, Ontario.
The home was decorated with beautiful Gerber daisy arrangements bringing the early fall colours into the home. Gwen prepared in the upper bedroom of the home while Joel readied himself at his father’s home. The ceremony took place in the backyard of the home surrounded by the family’s gardens. It was short, but sweet, and ended with happy tears and hugs from the entire family. Gwen and Joel asked for most of the photos to be of family. Because of this, I decided to incorporate the front of their family home into the group photographs to emphasize the small loving family that helped bring this beautiful day to life.
The reception was held at Nick and Nat’s Uptown 21 in downtown Waterloo. As a small family run business, this seemed like a suiting place for dinner and cake after a backyard wedding. The wedding cake was carefully handcrafted by Gwen’s sister, Tessa. This delicious three-tier cake was as tasty as it was beautiful. The evening ended with two families gathered around the table celebrating becoming one, and I am so happy I got to be part of it.
